With so much of the Paris accommodation market being made up of large hotels, stumbling across Sabine’s gorgeous home – ELIEL – was a real blessing.

Anna Parker from TravelWithPenelopeAndParker.com shares her take on a rather special boutique bed and breakfast in Paris.

The Location

Hidden away behind a gorgeous Parisian facade is ELIEL, a wonderful apartment offering bed and breakfast accommodation with just three stunning bedrooms. The apartment is in the 9th arrondissement, about a 10 minute stroll from Gare du Nord (perfect if you arrive by “Le Shuttle”) and within easy walking distance of a number of Metro stations that propel you swiftly into central Paris. There is a great choice of local eateries, away from the touristy places elsewhere in town, and your hostess Sabine will be able to share her latest recommendations during your visit – for example a tasty Thai just around the corner.

The apartment is on the 2nd floor of a typically Parisian Haussmann building and is far enough up from the street that the cars below do not create a disturbance. Gorgeous high ceilings and very artistically decorated, it is a lovely airy apartment – very hard to not relax the moment you arrive.

The Rooms

There are three rooms to choose from – Timmers, Hermès and Bilal. Each are incredibly stylish and well put together and take their inspiration from the names they have been given. The rooms are large, especially by Paris standards, and the decor is very relaxing and luxurious.

We chose the Timmers room (above) one of the reasons for this being that it had a bath as well as shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable and as an inward facing room there was next to no city noise to disturb. There are Timmer’s original artworks on the wall which add real character to the room. The bathroom (below) is set out well – with two sinks, a large double ended bath and a shower, it has everything you will need, and the bamboo photograph wall is a great touch. Very chic indeed, but also practical too with plenty of storage and space, as well as a coffee machine and complimentary water.

Breakfast

Breakfast is a triumph – the hostess Sabine will set out a spread of croissants, cakes, breads and cold meats along with some delicious juices and preserves. There is real attention to detail with stylish crockery and fresh flowers in the breakfast room. The kind of food where the ‘eyes bigger than stomach’ statement really applies! Too many nice and naughty things to choose from. And lovely coffee served to order as well.

There is also a large lounge area to use during the stay, however I suspect many visitors spend so much of their time exploring the streets and seeing the sites that the luxurious beds are more of a draw than the lounge to rest tired legs.

Eliel, Paris

A peaceful and luxurious haven in a buzzing city, ELIEL will appeal to the visitor that wants something different – luxurious yet quirky and beautifully put together in a characterful way.  With real charm, this a chic place to relax at the end of a day exploring the city and you’ll be looked after personally by the charming hostess.

Whilst my job gives me the chance to visit clients across the world, in my free time I enjoy discovering new places either in the UK or abroad that, most importantly, are either unique or luxurious.
