Hotels in the centre of the Siem Reap tend to be noisy. Those who come to the area to relax as well as to see the magnificent Angkor temples will appreciate the peacefulness of Trésor d’Angkor Suite, a boutique hotel in the countryside in between the airport and downtown Siem Reap.
The atmosphere at Grand Solmar Land’s End is zen-like. Though the resort is almost full during my visit, the gardens, pools and beach are quiet. I gaze out from one of several infinity pools to the sea, lulled by the rhythmic crashing of the waves. A fish leaps out of the water, foreshadowing the humpback whales which will soon make their winter appearance at this point where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean.
