The Bloempot, described on their website as a Flemish canteen, is the current ‘in place’ in Lille. It was opened last August, by the popular, young finalist of the French TV series ‘Top Chef’, Florent Ladeyn, with his great friend, Kevin Rolland.
A charming pedestrian cobbled street, rue Montorgueil, is lined with wonderful restaurants, cafés, cheese shops, bakeries, wine shops as well as Paris’ oldest (and one of its finest) pâtisseries. It’s a real joy to explore. Let us take you through some of the street’s highlights.
Once there was a network of over 140 covered passage ways running throughout Paris.
Designed to keep the gentry of the city clean and dry, these once bustling, glass roofed, shopping arcades had their heyday in the mid 19th century.
Over the years many fell in to disrepair and some have been demolished.
Luckily quite a few have now been restored including Passage Jouffroy,
a nostalgic reminder of how these charming arcades once looked.
