Our favourite suite, however, is the stunning rooftop terrace suite with its sweeping views over the city from where you can admire the views of Brunelleschi’s Dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Palazzo Pitti and Santa Maria Novella as well as the Ponte Vecchio and Santa Trinita bridges. The suite sleeps four people is laid out over two floors with two king-size bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms, a living room with a balcony overlooking Palazzo Pitti and the Florentine Oltrarno as well as the rooftop terrace itself.

Being within easy walking distance of the city’s most prestigious restaurants, renowned boutiques and stunning architectural masterpieces and art collections, not to mention the hotel’s own Michelin starred restaurant, could there be anywhere finer to immerse yourself in the beauty of the city of Florence and to soak up la dolce vita?

Don’t miss

If you are visiting in April, skip the better-known Boboli gardens and head to the Bardini Gardens. They are stunning any time of year, and less crowded, but in April a magnificent wisteria covered archway forms a tunnel of purple blooms. Whatever time of year you visit, be sure to stop off at the little bar at the top of the baroque staircase and enjoy a glass of wine while drinking in the views over the city.
