There are few things more relaxing than a private island resort. Here are some of our favourite locations that you can run to when you need to escape to the absolute tranquillity of a secluded island.
This little-known gem is known as the Maldives of the United Arab Emirates, a small, natural, previously uninhabited private island that’s the epitome of luxury, tranquillity and seclusion. If you love beautiful and luxurious places to stay, then add this magical island with its stylish boutique hotel to your wish list.
The atmosphere at Grand Solmar Land’s End is zen-like. Though the resort is almost full during my visit, the gardens, pools and beach are quiet. I gaze out from one of several infinity pools to the sea, lulled by the rhythmic crashing of the waves. A fish leaps out of the water, foreshadowing the humpback whales which will soon make their winter appearance at this point where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean.
With a lovely beachside setting, an excellent range of dinning options, extensive conference facilities, as well as the most attentive and helpful staff you could hope to find, the Ritz Carlton is an excellent choice for a relaxing break, a conference, wedding or honeymoon and is to my mind one of the best hotels in Dubai.
In a beautiful part of French Polynesia, Bora Bora’s geographical position ensures a warm climate throughout the year and, combined with its lagoons and sandy beaches, is a real treat for tourists seeking relaxation. Here at Bora Bora Island, the main attraction, besides palm trees, corals and a rich sea life, are the stunning overwater bungalows.
Our featurted hotel of the month is Masseria Torre Maizz, a former Puglian watch tower and working farm converted into a luxury 5 star hotel. We love the combination of traditional character and modern luxury in such an idyllic setting surrounded by orchards and vineyards. In addition the hotel has its own golf course set amongst ancient olive trees and the stunning Coccaro Beach Club.
Sitting on a tiled bench in nothing but a paper g-string is not how I would normally picture the start of a day’s pampering but that is exactly how my morning started; I’m here to enjoy the delights of this beautiful spa, including a traditional Moroccan hamam, in the most opulent and stylish hotel in The Gambia. I’m a firm believer that if you want to give your best to other people whether family, friends, work or even volunteering, you have to make time to look after yourself and what better way than this!
